Happy Monday, everyone!

How was everyone’s weekend? We had a crazy but super fun night here on Saturday. Every year, we have the pleasure of hosting the local Indian community’s Diwali celebration. Diwali is a New Years celebration and is the biggest and most important holiday in Indian culture. It was so much fun to see all the decorations, beautiful clothing, and smiley faces as everyone came together to celebrate. Events like this remind me of how important Generations is as a gathering place for everyone in our community. It was a pretty late night, though, so forgive me if I’m moving a little slow today.

There’s a couple of housekeeping points I want to bring up today before getting into the upcoming events.

First, Emily asked me to let you all know that the Strength Training class will not be meeting this week. This class runs for 8 weeks, then they take a week off. The class will resume again next week on its normal schedule (Mondays and Wednesdays at 7:20am).

Second, and don’t hate me for this one, I want to remind everyone of our winter weather policy. I know it’s nice today, but you know what’s coming! Generations follows the School District when deciding on whether or not to close due to weather. If the Plymouth Schools are closed, Generations will be closed as well. Please note that if the schools say they are going to virtual learning, this counts as being closed. If the schools are delayed, Generations will open as soon as it is safe for our staff to get to the building. We post cancellations on Facebook, Instagram, WHBL.com, and we will also send an email out (if you get this email, you’ll get a cancellation notice). For future reference, this policy is posted in our newsletter and on signs around the building, should you ever need a refresher.

Alright, here’s what’s coming up!

It is $5 to join, but for that you’ll get all the materials you need, instructions on how to make the lanterns, and you’ll get to keep the end result. Please let us know if you want to join so we have enough supplies for everyone.

Friday, November 17th, 11:00am – Intergenerational Lunch Time Join us in the Gathering Room for our monthly lunch with the kids upstairs. The Jungle Cubs classroom will be here with Miss Christine. We promise it will be the most spirited lunch you’ve had in a while. The special of the day will be bratwurst and sauerkraut. Make sure you let Pic A Deli know if you would like the special. Otherwise, you can order anything you’d like off the regular menu.

Friday, November 17th, 1:30pm – Movie Matinee: Golda (2023) A ticking-clock thriller set during the tense 19 days of the Yom Kippur War. Israeli Prime Minister Golda Meir (Helen Mirren) must navigate overwhelming odds, a skeptical cabinet and a complex relationship with US Secretary of State Henry Kissinger (Liev Schreiber) with millions of lives in the balance. Her tough leadership and compassion would ultimately decide the fate of her nation. Please RSVP to the office so we have enough room for everyone.

That should do it for this week. Have a great day and talk to you again next Monday!

Meghann
