Good morning and happy Monday!
It’s so nice to wake up to such a sunny day, and it was such a nice weekend, too. It’s always a good weekend when my son spends more time playing outside than in. Those leaves aren’t going to jump in themselves, ya know! Him and the neighbor girl had a blast destroying all the neat piles of leaves my husband and I made. Oh well, it’s good for mom and dad to get outside too.
Speaking of nice weather, it’s supposed to be decent all week. Hopefully you find a reason to get outside and enjoy it, since you never know how long it’ll last this time of year. If you’re looking for things to get you outside, we can always use help with landscaping and fall clean up. If you have the urge to get your hands in the dirt one last time before the snow flies, let us know! Kendall would love the extra hands.

Monday, November 13th, 2:00pm – Sleep Presentation with Aurora Learn how to get better sleep from a sleep professional. Joanna Langemak from Aurora Health Care will be here to discuss the importance of sleep, some common sleep issues, and what you can do to improve your sleep. Tuesday, November 14th, 10:00am – Intergenerational Art Class Join us for our monthly art class with the kids from Growing Generations. If you are interested in volunteering to work with the kids, please contact Joa.
Wednesday, November 15th – Bring A Friend Day It’s that time of the month again! Bring a friend (or two or three) to experience all the great programs Generations has to offer. Your friend can join a fitness class, go to a presentation, grab some lunch, or play some bingo. Really, they can join any activity they want for FREE! Plus, we offer a group tour at 11:30am. If you are bringing a friend, stop by the office! We’ll have them sign in as a guest and answer any questions you or they may have.
Wednesday, November 15th, 1:00pm – Embrace Care Management Presentation: Ask the Aging Expert Do you have questions about aging, but don’t know where to look for the answer or who to trust? Mary Pitsch from Embrace will be here to have an open, honest, and informative conversation about aging. Bring your questions! This will be an open, Q & A format. Thursday, November 16th, 6:00pm – England Trip Information Session Let’s go to England! Wendy from Black Sheep Travel will be at Generations to talk about the 2024 group trip to England. If you have questions about this trip, what you would need to do to prepare, what sites you’d be visiting, and so on, then this is the place to be! Just let us know if you plan to be there.
Friday, November 17th, 11:00am – DIY Holiday Lanterns This month, Meg is getting us in the holiday mood with Holiday Lanterns. It is $5 to join, but for that you’ll get all the materials you need, instructions on how to make the lanterns, and you’ll get to keep the end result. Please let us know if you want to join so we have enough supplies for everyone.
Friday, November 17th, 11:00am – Intergenerational Lunch Time Join us in the Gathering Room for our monthly lunch with the kids upstairs. The Jungle Cubs classroom will be here with Miss Christine. We promise it will be the most spirited lunch you’ve had in a while. The special of the day will be bratwurst and sauerkraut. Make sure you let Pic A Deli know if you would like the special. Otherwise, you can order anything you’d like off the regular menu.
Friday, November 17th, 1:30pm – Movie Matinee: Golda (2023) A ticking-clock thriller set during the tense 19 days of the Yom Kippur War. Israeli Prime Minister Golda Meir (Helen Mirren) must navigate overwhelming odds, a skeptical cabinet and a complex relationship with US Secretary of State Henry Kissinger (Liev Schreiber) with millions of lives in the balance. Tuesday, November 21st, 4:00pm – Intro to Mindfulness Mental Health America will be joining us to present on Mindfulness. What is it? How does it work? You will get help building your own mindfulness practice and learn how it will benefit you in your personal and professional life. Please call, email, or stop in the office to RSVP.

Don’t forget, we also have out Holiday Celebration coming up on Giving Tuesday, November 28th. It’s going to be a great time with live holiday music, festive refreshments, kid’s crafts, and a visit from Santa. Plus, we’ll be lighting the indoor Christmas tree for the first time of the season. Greg, Joa, and I will be there to enjoy the festivities with you, as well as to answer any questions you may have about our on-going Annual Campaign. We really hope you decide to join us. It’s going to be a great night to usher in the Holiday Season!
