Intergenerational Exercise

Once a month the children and seniors come together to have fun playing games and to enjoy movement activities together. The program is in its third year and has grown in popularity among the seniors who have given up their time to help children learn fundamental movement challenges.

Quick Fit Exercise Program

The program was started to help a novice or beginner exercise enthusiast get into an exercise program.  All exercises are non-impact and utilize low resistance equipment. To learn more about this program, see Fred Brown at Generations.

 OVERVIEW OF SILVERSNEAKERS

Tivity's goal is to improve the well-being of everyone by engaging individuals in sustained behavior change that helps them live longer, happier, and more productive lives.

Tivity and SilverSneakers have partnered to provide an exercise program that will meet the goals of their organization. The SilverSneakers Fitness ® program is a fun, energizing program that helps older adults take greater control of their health by encouraging physical activity and offering social events.

The SilverSneakers Fitness Program is the nation’s leading fitness program designed exclusively for older adults. Tivity has been providing innovative health benefits for older adults for more than two decades.

Today, more than 65 Medicare health plans offer the program as a benefit to members across the nation. Regular participation in the program has been proven to help older adults manage their health and increase strength, balance, and endurance. Each program has a set desired purpose, and that is to keep you feeling young and active through exercise.

SilverSneakers Program: Arthritis Exercise Class

The Arthritis Foundation Exercise Program is a low impact physical activity program proven to reduce pain and decrease stiffness. Led by certified instructor, Fred Brown, the participants in the class follow upper and lower extremity routines that work to improve range of motion, muscle strength, and muscle endurance. All exercises are easy to follow and can be replicated at home.

SilverSneakers Program: Circuit

Combine fun with fitness to increase your cardiovascular and muscular endurance power with a standing circuit workout.  Upper-body strength work with hand-held weights, elastic tubing with handles, and a Silver Sneakers ball is alternated with low-impact aerobic choreography.  A chair is used for standing support, stretching, and relaxation exercises.

SilverSneakers Program: Classic

Have fun and move through the exercises designed to increase muscular strength, range of movement, and activities for daily living.  Hand- held weights, elastic tubing with handles, and a Silver Sneakers ball are offered for resistance.  A chair is available if needed for seated or standing support.

SilverSneakers Programs: Yoga

Silver Sneakers Chair Yoga will move your whole body through a complete series of seated and standing Yoga poses. Chair support is offered to safely perform a variety of seated and standing postures designed to increase flexibility, balance, and range of movement. Restorative breathing exercises and final relaxation will promote stress reduction and mental clarity.

Pilates Cardio

If you like to really move to music and enjoy a good cardio workout, this program is for you. We combine Pilates, dance and cardio movement to make this class an early morning blast! Set to Latin rhythms, this moderate to high-intensity program provides an aerobic workout that is so much fun, you won't even know you are exercising!

Pilates Mat

Designed for those who are seriously interested in mind/body development. This is the foundation course for the entire STOTT Pilates program of mindful-movement. Using small props including hand weights, toning balls, flex bands and fitness circles, this mat class will challenge all participants. A progressive program that builds upon the five basic principles of Pilates to perform increasingly difficult exercises will help even seasoned athletes achieve improved levels of fitness.

Chair Pilates

Based on the STOTT Pilates method of mindful-movement, this class focuses on breath work, body awareness, strength development, postural improvement, increased flexibility, mobility and coordination. Using small props including hand weights, toning balls, flex bands and fitness circles, this class introduces and explores mind/body movement.

Total Fitness Exercises

Regardless of age, regular exercise improves strength, flexibility, stamina, bone mass and posture. This Total Fitness exercise program is a mixture of aerobic exercise, weight training, mobility and balance.  For seniors 55+

Walk Fit

Participants follow a training program that includes a warm-up followed by a low impact walking cardio training system of exercise utilizing a DVD.  For seniors 55+
